Tinubu Seeks Reps' Repeal, Re-Enactment Of Police Trust Fund Act
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a letter to House of Representatives, requested the repeal and re-enactment of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund Establishment Act 2025.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, reading the letter from the President, conveyed to the lawmakers that he is seeking the repeal and re-enactment of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund Establishment Act 2025.
President Tinubu explained that the move is necessary to strengthen the management and administration of the Fund, enhance training capacity for personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, support the provision of modern security equipment and machinery, and improve the welfare of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
Three motions of urgent national importance relating to insecurity called for the deployment of more troops to safeguard lives and property across communities in Kwara, Kano and Zamfara States.
The House, through a motion by Osun State lawmaker, Bamidele Salam, stressed the need for the Federal Government to develop sustainable agricultural price stabilisation policies and frameworks to protect farmers’ investments in the country.
Lawmakers also expressed concern over the rising cost of medicines in Nigeria and called for urgent action to revive local pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The House urged relevant ministries and the Central Bank of Nigeria to fast-track the implementation and monitoring of the Executive Order on pharmaceutical production inputs.
Meanwhile, 15 bills, including the Special Court for Terrorism, Banditry and Kidnapping Establishment Bill, scaled first reading in the House.
