Reps Minority Caucus Tells Tinubu To Suspend Political Activities, Tackle Insecurity

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend all political activities ahead of the 2027 elections and focus on addressing the country’s security and economic challenges.

The Minority Leader, Fred Agbedi, at the National Assembly, said that worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and rising cases of kidnapping and killings across the country require urgent government attention.

The caucus expressed concerns over the murder of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar in captivity and the continued detention of abducted school children and teachers in Oyo State, describing the incidents as evidence of a deteriorating security situation.

The lawmaker also raised concerns over recent court rulings affecting opposition political parties, warning against actions capable of undermining democratic participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Minority Caucus called for an overhaul of the nation’s security architecture, improved welfare for security personnel, and a six-month National Security and Economic Recovery Plan aimed at restoring public confidence and addressing the country’s challenges
