Reps Suspends Probe Of NILDS DG Alleged Participation In Politics While In Office
The House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Library, Research and Documentation, has suspended investigation into allegations that NILDS Director-General, Prof. Suleiman Abubakar, participated in a governorship primary election without resigning from office.
At an investigative hearing in Abuja, Committee Chairman, Yusuf Galambi, said the panel could not proceed with the probe due to insufficient evidence presented by the petitioners.
Galambi directed the petitioners to submit documentary evidence, including party records, nomination forms and expression of interest forms linked to Prof. Abubakar.
He said the committee would continue its investigation after receiving credible and verifiable evidence.
Responding on behalf of the petitioners, Williams Amuga of the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners, said the allegations were based on reports and publications circulated on social media.
The committee, subsequently, adjourned hearing pending the submission of additional evidence by the petitioners.
