Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has suspended the Commissioner for Works, Reuben Izeze, for the violent attack on the governor's Protocol Officer, Temple Mudi.

Meanwhile, Izeze has been in detention at the Police Area Command in Effurun.

The Commissioner was suspended after the Effurun High Court had ordered the remanded of the Works Commissioner at the Warri Correctional centre over a charge of attempted murder and Cultism.

The Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Kingsley Emu, in a statement indicated that the suspension is to enable security agencies carry out an unbiased investigation over allegations associating him with the assault on the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Temple Mudi, at the Petroleum Training Institute conference center during an APC stakeholders meeting.

The statement added that the state government remains committed to the maintenance of public safety in all circumstances, which guarantees law and order and the sanctity of lives.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Warri, while the Effurun High Court ordered him to be remanded for 14 days.
