Army, Kaduna Govt. Seeks Joint Action To Curb Insecurity

The Nigerian Army and Kaduna State Government are ramping up joint efforts to address seasonal security threats by deepening collaboration between security agencies, communities, and other stakeholders. The commitment was reaffirmed at a Security Sector Stakeholders Engagement held at the Headquarters, 1 Division Auditorium in Kaduna.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Sule Shu’aibu, representing Governor Uba Sani, said the state is focused on preventing recurring rainy season threats like banditry, farmer-herder clashes, abductions, and attacks on rural communities.

Governor Sani highlighted that Kaduna has made notable gains in restoring peace through deliberate collaboration among government, security agencies, traditional leaders, and communities. He noted that the first edition of the engagement improved intelligence sharing, coordinated responses, and community participation in security management.

The forum was meant to assess the threat landscape, review progress, and reinforce strategies that have already worked.

GOC 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, said the engagement is critical because the rainy season historically worsens security challenges in the state. He praised the first edition for building trust, dialogue, and cooperation, which led to intensified joint operations, better intelligence sharing, and stronger community-led initiatives.

Going forward, Maj.-Gen. Wase called for refining rainy season threat mapping, stronger early warning systems, and deeper joint patrol and de-escalation strategies.
