Court Grants Bail To APC Gov Aspirant In Cyberbully, Blackmail Suit

A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has granted bail to a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last governorship election in Ekiti State, Abimbola Olawumi, on allegations of cyberbullying, blackmail, and death threats.

The Police arraigned Olawumi in court, following a complaint by the Chief Executive Officer of YSJ Limited, Yemisi Joluwe.

The police filed a four-count charge against the politician, accusing him of using Facebook and TikTok to post photographs, addresses and threatening messages directed at Yemisi Joluwe and two other individuals.

At the hearing, Police Prosecutor, Samson Osobu, did not oppose the bail request made by defense lawyer, Ayokunle Okunade.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted Olawumi bail on self-recognition and adjourned the case to July 28, 2026 for further hearing.
