Army Chief Tasks Senior Commanders On Strategic Leadership In Tackling Insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has called on senior Commanders of the Nigerian Army to embrace strategic leadership, innovation, and collaboration in tackling Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The charge was made at the First Senior Command and Leadership Seminar 2026, held at the Headquarters, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Nigerian Army is intensifying efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and operational effectiveness in the face of growing security concerns across the country.

At the First Senior Command and Leadership Seminar 2026 in Port Harcourt, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, urged senior commanders to adopt strategic thinking and innovative approaches in addressing emerging threats.

Represented by the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, Major General Peter Malla, the Army Chief said the seminar was, specifically, designed to sharpen the professional competencies of senior officers and enhance operational readiness.

The chief of training, Nigerian Army, Major General Valentine Okoro, described the seminar as a major milestone in strengthening leadership and operational effectiveness within the force, as the GOC 6 Division charges officers to take full advantage of the opportunity.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of fallen gallant soldiers who paid the ultimate price in active service to the nation.
