The Police are on the trail of gunmen who kidnapped over 17 UTME candidates along the Makurdi - Utukpo road traveling in a Benue Links bus.

The Victims were traveling to Otukpo from Makurdi when they were attacked in a late night raid by the gunmen.

Benue State Police Commissioner, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, confirmed the incident, noting they are on the trail of the attackers, as tactical teams have been deployed to rescue the victims.

The Police said two victims escaped, including the driver, adding that more investigation is conducted on the driver for violating company policy of driving late night.

One of the escaped victims, narrating his ordeal from five of their abductors, saying they were all fully armed with AK's and machetes, with many of the victims UTME candidates and some others, including an ELDERLY man led into the forest.
