Reps Deputy Speaker Kanu Supports Creation Of Anioma State

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has declared support for the creation of Anioma State out of the current Delta State. The Speaker, accordingly, enjoined  political leaders at all levels of government to support the creation of states in the South.

The Deputy Speaker emphasized that collaboration among governors and stakeholders in the South-East and South-South is key to creating an additional states in the zones.

Kalu, receiving the Anioma State Movement, proposed a unifying “Anioma” model, stressing that inclusivity and regional consensus are critical for success.

He warned against isolated efforts, noting that compromise and agreement among stakeholders are necessary, while issues like the state capital would be resolved through dialogue.

The Deputy Speaker assured that the Constitution Review Committee would prioritise the proposal for Anioma State; he commended Senator Ned Nwoko for his advocacy.

Ned Nwoko said the visit was to appreciate Kalu’s support. His Royal Majesty Henry Kikachukwu described the agitation for Anioma State as a long-standing demand for recognition as part of the Igbo nation.
