Makinde Calls For More Prayers, Security Consciousness
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called for more prayers and security consciousness as Muslims mark Eid-el-Adha 2026.
Makinde, hosting the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, and other Muslim appointees in his cabinet, at his Ikolaba residence, who paid him a Sallah visit, reassured that all the children and teachers abducted on May 16, in Oriire Local Government Area will be rescued and brought home.
The governor, while addressing the Muslim faithful, quickly shifted from celebration to the challenge weighing on the state: the abduction of school children.
Makinde also called on all residents of the state to continue to imbibe the spirit of tolerance as political campaigns approach, stressing that Oyo’s reputation for tolerance would be its shield.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdulganiyy Agbotomokekere, called on all Muslims to be tolerant and accommodate one another.
Agbotomokekere urged Muslim faithful to emulate the deeds of Prophet Ibrahim, maintaining that tolerance and obedience should be prioritised in their daily lives.
