Effurun Killing: Police Arrest Fleeing Sender of Pistol
The police have arrested the sender of the parcel containing pistol that to resulted in the extra-judicial killing of Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State, by a police officer.
The 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi was shot to death by a police officer when he went to collect the parcel containing pistol in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State. The sender of the parcel had been on the run since the incident two weeks ago.
Two suspects believed to have sent the Pistol with four live cartridges through waybill to the late Oghenemine have been arrested by the Uvwie Area Command police in Effurun.
The arrest is coming after about one week the police officer who killed Oghenemine, ASP Nuhu Usman, and four others, have been dismissed from service by the Police Service Commission and are currently undergoing trial.
The sender of the gun was said to have been arrested on Wednesday night in Bayelsa State, and was brought to Effurun under the Area commander, Aliyu Shabba, while the second suspect was said to be arrested in Sapele, where the late victim had promised to take the police to, before he was shot and killed.
The identities of the arrested persons are yet to be disclosed.
