Police Recover Firearms From Military Impostor In Enugu

The Police have recovered firearms from a military impostor in Enugu.

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, Operations Department, arrested a 34-year-old man impersonating the military, Uzondu Chimezie, along Unity Estate, Enugu.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Enugu State Command, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement, indicated that a locally fabricated Baretta Pistol and one Cut-to-size gun were recovered from the suspect, who claimed to be a serving member of the Nigerian Air Force, but later confessed, during interrogation, to desertion and dismissal from the Force.

The suspect, according to the PPRO, is helping in the investigation to unravel his mission and how he got the guns in his possession, leading to his arrest.

The Enugu State Police Commissioner, CP Mamman Bitrus, reiterated the Command's commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements. He urged members of the public to remain law abiding, vigilant, and supportive by providing credible information to the police.
