Troops Crush Terrorist Gatherings In Katsina, Zamfara

The Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, launched Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV to intensify pressure on terrorist and criminal networks in the North West. The goal is to disrupt their supply lines, stop their expansion into communities, and degrade their capabilities. For this phase, ground forces and air assets are working together in coordinated strikes on identified hideouts.

Troops from Sector 2 carried out a clearance operation in suspected terrorist enclaves around Dutsinma LGA in Katsina State. The offensive forced the fighters to abandon their positions and retreat into nearby bushes. Mopping-up operations are still ongoing to prevent them from returning.

In Zamfara State, intelligence revealed a large gathering of terrorists on motorcycles in Anka LGA. The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA conducted precision airstrikes, neutralizing many of them. Survivors fled on foot after abandoning their bikes, and follow-up strikes targeted those trying to escape, breaking up the group.

A major focus of CLEAN SWEEP IV is dismantling the Lakurawa terrorist network. The operation aims to block infiltration routes into Nigeria and cut off reinforcement. Troops are also securing the River Niger axis and Kainji Lake National Park to stop terrorists from using these areas as corridors for movement, logistics, and attacks on nearby communities

The Theatre Command says CLEAN SWEEP IV shows a proactive and sustained approach to tackling evolving threats. Through continuous ground and air operations, Operation FANSAN YAMMA is working to protect civilians, secure Nigeria’s borders, and deny terrorists the chance to regroup or establish new bases. The message to communities is that the offensive will continue until the networks are dismantled.
