The Police, in swift response to a report, recovered a newborn stolen at birth in a healthcare facility in Gboko, Benue State. The Police arrested 11 suspects in connection with the child's theft.

Operatives of the Benue State Command, attached to A Division, Gboko, recovered the newborn child after the baby was reported missing by Aondofa Chia, whose wife had delivered shortly at a healthcare facility in Gboko.

Following investigation, the Police arrested 9 suspects for questioning, which led to the arrest of 2 additional suspects, at about 10.00pm on the same date, including the principal suspect, Mrs. Nguhemen Asugh, aged 35 years who stole the infant baby.

The rescued stolen newborn baby has safely reunited with the mother, while the 11 suspects are currently in Police custody.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, reassured the people of Benue that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
