Troops Repel Multiple Terrorists Attacks in Katsina, Zamfara
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, recorded another round of operational successes across Katsina and Zamfara States. According to the JTF, the operations disrupted coordinated terrorist activities and led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and equipment. The military said the actions reflect its sustained push to protect communities and maintain pressure on terrorist groups operating in the North West.
In Katsina State, Sector 2 troops on a fighting patrol engaged terrorists between Amara and Chakau Junction in Danmusa Local Government Area. The criminals opened fire on sighting the troops, but were overpowered by superior firepower and forced to flee. After the encounter, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine with eight rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles abandoned by the attackers.
Elsewhere in Katsina, troops worked with other security agencies and local vigilantes to respond to an attack on the outskirts of Sabon Garin and Dantakeri villages in Dutsinma LGA, neutralizing one terrorist in a firefight. In Malumfashi LGA, the same sector responded to reports of terrorists on motorcycles who had abducted the District Head of Farin Hawa Village, Mr. Mubarak Sharin. Pursuing troops made contact, killed one assailant, disrupted the withdrawal, and rescued the district head unharmed.
In Zamfara State, Sector 2 troops repelled an attack on their location at Dauran in Bukkuyum LGA. Reinforced by a fighting patrol, the troops forced the attackers to retreat. The recovery team picked up one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, thirty-five rounds of ammunition, a bandolier, and a hydration pack left behind by the fleeing terrorists.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA praised the courage, professionalism, and resilience of its personnel and collaborating agencies. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, said the Joint Task Force remains committed to sustained offensive operations while working closely with communities to protect lives and property across the North West.
