Senate Swears In 4 New Senators Elected in June 20 Bye-Elections

The Senate, on Wednesday, formally swore in four newly elected senators, who emerged victorious in the June 20 bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to fill vacant seats in the National Assembly.

The lawmakers were inaugurated during plenary by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, in accordance with the Senate Standing Orders, following the presentation of their Certificates of Return.

The newly sworn-in senators are Olaka Nwogu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in Rivers State; Asogwa Ikeje Israel of the All Progressives Congress, APC, representing Enugu North Senatorial District in Enugu State; Danladi Envulu-Anza of the APC, representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District, Nasarawa State; and Dayo Faduyile of the APC, representing Ondo South Senatorial District in Ondo State.
