INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Winners of June 20 Bye-Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented Certificates of Return to winners of the June 20, 2026 bye-elections conducted in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.
The certificates were presented, on behalf of the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Joash Amupitan, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, May Agbamuche-Mbu, at a ceremony attended by party officials, supporters and INEC staff.
At the event, Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the successful candidates and described the issuance of Certificates of Return as a crucial step in the electoral process. She urged the winners to justify the confidence reposed in them by their constituents through responsible and people-oriented representation.
The National Commissioner also commended voters, security agencies and electoral officials for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and credible exercise. She reaffirmed INEC's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's democratic process through transparent and credible elections.
Among those presented with Certificates of Return were Olaka Nwogu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who emerged winner of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District bye-election, and Ikeje Asogwa of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who won the Enugu North Senatorial District contest.
