PDP Leaders Battle For Survival
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are battling for the survival of the party, They are optimistic that the party will remain strong and continue to serve as a major opposition platform in Nigeria.
After an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee, NWC, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the meeting was convened to address urgent issues, including legal challenges affecting the party.
He assured members and supporters that the PDP will remain alive and will appear on the ballot, stressing that reconciliation efforts must preserve the party as a strong and independent opposition.
Earlier, the PDP National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, said the expanded emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees and party leaders was convened to deliberate on pressing issues, including the implications of a recent court judgment and provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act.
Turaki noted that the party’s leadership has continued efforts to strengthen the PDP and maintain the confidence of millions of Nigerians who look to the party for democratic leadership.
Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, described the period as challenging for Nigeria’s democracy. He, however, expressed confidence that the situation will pass, urging party leaders to remain committed to the interests of the Nigerian people.
