Stakeholders in Delta State have expressed concerns that former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa may be disrupting equity and fairness in the power rotation principle in Delta North Senatorial District, in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.

Several stakeholders berate the former governor for utilizing the political machine of the Delta State government to secure the 2027 senatorial ticket for Delta North, 4 years after his two-terms of 8 years as governor.
Patrick Osakwe, of Ndokwa clime, was senator that represented Delta North in the National Assembly 1999 to 2011, that is 12 years.
He was succeeded by Ifeanyi Okowa, Ika clime, between 2011 and 2015 - four years in the Nigerian Senate.
Okowa abandoned the Senate for Governor of Delta State in 2015. Peter Nwaoboshi, Oshimili clime, stepped in between 2015 to 2023 - 8 years in the Senate.
Thereafter, Ned Nwoko, Aniocha clime, incumbent Senator representing Delta North, emerged, 2023 to 2027. While Aniocha deserves second tenure to make at least 8 years, and the senatorial ticket will go back to Ndokwa, Okowa rose to get the ticket back, setting the stage for his retirement from Delta Government House to the Senate, Abuja, on the platform of the APC.
Meanwhile, Victor Ochei, former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, is the major candidate from Aniocha for the 2027 senatorial election on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Meanwhile, there are pressures on Okowa to step down from the 2027 senatorial race.
