Court Rescinds Bench Warrant Against PDP Chairman, Kabiru Turaki SAN
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Maitama, on Wednesday, rescinded the bench warrant previously issued against the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kabiru Turaki SAN, for failing to appear in court in a lone charge of providing false information to the police.
The Principal Private Secretary to Kabiru Turaki, Ibrahim Abdullahi, in a statement on Wednesday, indicated that the ruling was granted on the oral application of counsel to the defendant, Chief Chris Uche SAN, and was not opposed by the prosecution counsel, Usman Rabiu.
The presiding Judge, Justice Peter Kekemeke, said that “the essence of the bench warrant was to produce the defendant in court, and since the defendant has appeared voluntarily, without being arrested, and the application not being contested, the bench warrant is hereby rescinded. The case is hereby adjourned to 22nd April, 2026.”
