SEMA Provides Support For 15 IDP Camps In Benue
State Emergency and Management Agency, SEMA, has commenced provision of support to the 15 Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, Camps in Benue State.
The interventionist agency distributed food and other products to the victims of terrorists onslaught.
The permanent secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency, Dr James Iorpuu, at the monthly distribution of food and non food items in Makurdi, assured that the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia will not disappoint in its commitment to ensure that those displaced after of armed herdsmen attacks are adequately taken care of and given hope.
Recounting the number of displaced persons from their ancestral homes by armed herdsmen and bandits from various communities, and taking refuge in 15 IDP camps and neighboring communities, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, said that the food and non-food items will be distributed to existing 15 IDO camps and will also be extended to other less privileged homes, to improve living conditions of the displaced. He, however, called on Nigerians and Benue people to assist in the returns of IDPs to their ancestral homes, commending donor partners for their support.
