Osun 2026: CSOs, Reps, Demand Probe Of Electoral Violence, Campaign Spending of 16 APC Govs
Certain Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, including members of the House of Representatives, have called for investigations into electoral violence, which claimed the lives of over 20 persons in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State. Andrew Mamedu of ActionAid Nigeria demanded independent audit of funds spent by the 16 APC governors and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in the electioneering campaign for Oyebamiji.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State won the election on the platform of Accord with 511,067 votes, beating APC’s Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, who had 444,815 votes.
The bipartisan Save Democracy Group in the House of Representatives, also demanded full probe into election-related violence and deaths. They also called for investigation into a viral video showing Senator Francis Fadahunsi inciting APC members to kill Accord members and supporters in Ilesa.
