Alia Orders Dislodgement of Terrorists' Camps in Benue Forests
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has directed security agencies to immediately commence coordinated operations to dislodge armed herders, terrorists camps identified in forests around Apa, Otukpo, Gwer-West and other parts of BENUE State.
The Governor was reacting to the brutal attacks on Edikwu-Ankpali, Ikobi, and Adija in Apa LGAs, as well as Upu village in Otukpo LGA which left many dead.
The Chief Press secretary to the governor, Tersoo Kulas, in a statement, indicated that the governor gave the directive following the renewed waves of violent attacks on innocent communities, by these criminal elements exploiting forested areas as operational bases to launch attacks, which must be flushed out without delay.
The Governor, who reaffirmed the protection of lives and property as his foremost responsibility, mandated a sustained, intelligence-driven security crackdown aimed at neutralizing all threats and restoring confidence among citizens, particularly in the affected local government areas.
While assuring residents that the State Government is working in close synergy with federal security agencies until lasting peace is achieved, urged the people to cooperate with security operatives with credible information to aid ongoing operation. commiserated with families who have lost loved ones in the recent attacks.
