Police Raid Cyber Crime Hub In Delta
The Police have raided cyber crime hub in Delta State.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, PPRO, Edafe Bright, in a statement in Asaba, indicated Operatives of the Delta State Police Command Quick Response Squad, led by SP Collins Arrey, stormed a location in Opete, suspected to be a hub for internet fraud activities.
The PPRO emphasized that the operation was as a result of information received from a distress caller who reported that her younger brother sent a distress message of being held hostage and forced to engage in cyber crime.
The PPRO added that operation exposed an organized network of young men operating from a residential apartment converted into a cyber crime base, leading to the arrest of 34 suspects, recovery of 37 laptops, iPads, 7 phones and a calabash, containing suspected charms.
Other items recovered include one locally fabricated firearm, and two live cartridges. "The suspects and exhibits are currently at the Police Headquarters, Asaba, as investigation continues," the PPRO said.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commending officers and men of the Command, reiterated the resolve of the Force to rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality.
