Lawmaker Exonerates Gov Nwifuru From Alleged Genocide
Lawmaker, representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, Chinedu Ogah, in defence, exonerated Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru from allegations of genocide. He said that the allegations are unfounded and misleading. The federal lawmaker insisted that the state government has prioritized peace and security.
Ogah, at a press briefing in Abuja, dismissed accusations by activist, Joy Idam, that the governor was targeting the Amasiri community over a land dispute. He said that the claims were disconnected from realities and capable of escalating tensions.
Ogah noted that conflicts in several communities predated the Nwifuru administration, but had been reduced through government interventions.
He explained that curfews and temporary school closures were precautionary measures to prevent violence, and had been relaxed as normalcy returned.
He urged Idam to apologize and verify developments in the state.
Ogah also highlighted scholarships for about 400 youths, infrastructure projects, and grassroots security initiatives as evidence of inclusive governance in the state.
