Group implores Alia To End Feud With Akume In Benue
A group, Concerned Benue Democrats, has implored Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State to end feud with former Governor George Akume in the state. The group enjoined the governor to reach out to Senator George Akume, Secretary to Government of the Federation, for peace and unity of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State.
The Concerned Benue Democrats disagreed with Vice President Kashim Shettima on his statement that Senator Akume should extend an olive branch to Governor Alia to mend fences. They described the process as not customary in the Tiv tradition, but the other way, the governor should make the move, for peaceful resolution when there is a problem.
The members said they were out to make the record straights and correct mischievous representation, as close watchers of Benue Politics.
The group accused Governor Alia of being the main violator, despite repeated calls by President Bola Tinubu to mend fences with the SGF. The group said Akume is the victim in the crisis. It insistedthat the SGF is not the aggressor but a victim.
The group advised Vice President Shettima to hold a closed-door session with both parties to resolve the impasse.
The group called on the governor to shun the proposed establishment of Disarmament, Rehabilitation and Reintegrating, DDR, camp in Benue State.
