Benue 2027: Alia, Akume Disagree Over Automatic Ticket

The subtle war between members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Benue State, that created two factional interest groups, may come to end sooner than expected, as Governor Hyacinth Alia, called for a peace and reconciliation meeting

The meeting, which is aimed at fostering lasting peace to the lingering crisis and forming a united front ahead of 2027 general election, was held at the Government House, Makurdi, with the Secretary to Government of the Federation, George Akume, Governor Alia and all other party stakeholders in attendance.

This peace reconciliation effort is seen as crucial, given the on going dispute over leadership, appointments, and control of the party structure within Benue APC chapter.

After long hours of the meeting behind closed doors, both political gladiators of the state seem to have conflicting interpretations of its resolutions. While fielding questions from the SGF, senator George Akume, noted that the Governor apologized for the crisis in the party, Stating that part of the resolution reached was an automatic ticket for all elective officers.

The governor countered the SGF, saying, there is no automatic ticket for any candidate in the party.
