FG Advised To Investigate Allegations against Minister of State for Defence

The Federal Government has been advised to launch an immediate, transparent and independent investigation into the allegations linking the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to banditry. The Odua People's Assembly in a statement issued by its Chairman, Richard Olatunji Kayode, warning that the claims pose serious risks to national security and public trust.

The group urged the government to urgently address the situation to prevent further erosion of confidence in government institutions amid ongoing insecurity. The Assembly cited a viral video showing notorious bandit leader Bello Turji publicly defending Matawalle, describing the development as troubling and capable of undermining the efforts of security agencies and the sacrifices of the military.

OPA stressed that any direct or indirect link between public officials and banditry is unacceptable and a betrayal of Nigerians affected by insecurity. The Assembly urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and hold leaders accountable, insisting that public officials must uphold the highest standards of integrity and responsibility.
