The Federal Government said it is scaling up investment in education infrastructure as part of efforts to improve students welfare and expand access to tertiary institutions.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stated this in Abuja during the inauguration of governing boards, chief executives and principal officers of key education institutions, noting that the reforms are aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said the government has committed over N250 billion to address the long-standing student accommodation deficit, with funds targeted at building new hostels and expanding existing facilities nationwide.

The minister of state for education, Prof Suwaiba Ahmad, charged the newly inaugurated officials to ensure accountability, transparency and effective leadership in managing public resources, while driving reforms that will strengthen quality, access and innovation in the education sector.

Those inaugurated include Professor Babatunde Lawal Salako, Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education; Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu, Chairman of the National Examinations Council; and Shofoyeke David, Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration.
