Bandits attacked Ariko community in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State, targeting two churches during Easter celebration. The bandits killed 5 persons and kidnapped 35 others, while worshippers were taken captive during the service.

The incident triggered outrage and concern among community leaders. Rev Isah Idris expressed sorrow over the continued insurgency ravaging rural communities. Residents and leaders appealed to the government to intervene and end the violence.

The bandits were said to have arrived in large numbers, surrounding the area and opening fire on worshippers at First ECWA Church, and St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Poor telecommunications coverage may have delayed response efforts, according to Councilor Mark Bawa.

The police said they're doing everything to restore peace and order.
