Tambuwal Steps Down, Concedes ADC Senatorial Ticket To Former Commissioner

Incumbent Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, has stepped down from the senatorial race, conceding the ticket for Sokoto South Senatorial District of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to former Sokoto State Commissioner for Finance, Faruk Malami-Yabo, in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.

Tambuwal was said to have made the sacrifice in the face of consultations and disagreements in the ADC in Sokoto over 2027 candidates.

Tambuwal has been in power over two decades, rising from Speaker of the House of Representatives, to Governor of Sokoto State - eight years- then, to the Senate of the National Assembly.

Just like Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, Tambuwal realized when it becomes appropriate to step aside for the young generation.
