Turaki Succumbs, Submits To Reconciliation With Wike PDP Faction
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN, has seemingly succumbed to the political fireworks of Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, leading a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The chairman, accordingly, submitted to reconciliation in the party, in the midst of legal battles.
Turaki, after a meeting of the National Working Committee of the party, disclosed that the PDP leadership has opted for peace in the overall interest of the party, expressing readiness to make necessary sacrifices to ensure its survival.
Turaki, in a media interaction, said the group had resolved commence negotiation to give peace a chance and prevent the PDP from collapsing. He assured that the PDP would continue to participate in all elections.
Turaki said that leaders of both PDP factions have begun dialogue and are exploring pathways towards a lasting resolution. He urged supporters to immediately tone down inflammatory statements and actions that could undermine ongoing reconciliation efforts.
Turaki added that both sides are expected to withdraw pending court cases once a mutual agreement is reached. He noted that legal disputes would be set aside in the interest of peace.
On the issue of compromise, he said his group is willing to bend as far as their necks and backs allow and are ready to make all sorts of sacrifices in the overall interest of the party.
He said PDP will not die.
He said the National Working Committee passed a vote of confidence on Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde of Bauch and Oyo States, for their resilience and steadfast leadership in the face of recent challenges.
