The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has appointed Malam Aminu Kasimu Idris as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Benue State.

Mallam Aminu Kasimu Idris, the 22nd Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Benue State, was received by management and staff of the Commission in Makurdi.

Mallam Aminu Kasimu Idris was presented handover note by the acting Administrative Secretary, Shikfu Sim Bewaran.

According to the Public Affairs Officer, Mrs. Peace Ogoyi, the new REC undertook a tour of the offices.

The former Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Sam Egwu, was transferred to Plateau State on April 17, 2026.
