NSCDC Arrests 2 For Job Racketeering, Recovers N1.3m In Benue

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested two principal suspects involved in job racketeering and recovered about N1.3 million from one of the suspects in Benue State. They specialize in defrauding victims for uniform procurement and other items.

The NSCDC arrested the two suspects in Makurdi following Credible information after they attempted conducting a staged - manage data capturing for unsuspecting applicants.

The Corps Commandant, CC Bitrus Alice Larai, said the suspects arrested for alleged conspiracy and job Racketeering are Okpara Micheal Abah, male 42 years, and Ade John Ogbu, male 37 years.

According to the Commandant, preliminary investigation revealed the total sum of N1.178 million was paid to Okpara Michael Abah by some applicants.

While another sum of N116,500 was collected by Okpara Michael Abah for the procurement of uniforms and other items.

The command public relations officer, Superintendent of Corps, Ejelikwu Micheal, who spoke on behalf of the commandant, admonished unsuspecting members of public to be wary of criminals elements, assuring the suspects will be handed to appropriate authorities after investigation.

Items recovered from the suspects include copies of application forms, passport photographs of the applicants and a still camera.
