Abejide, Bala Reject Epulsion From ADC

A leadership tussle within the African Democratic Congress, DCADC, has escalated, as factional chairman, Nafiu Bala, and House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide, rejected their expulsion and declared it invalid.

Addressing House of Representatives press corps at a press conference in Abuja, Nafiu Bala, alongside Leke Abejide, described their reported expulsion from the ADC as null and void, insisting due process was not followed.

The crisis has fractured the party into three contending blocs, each laying claim to its leadership and structure, raising concerns about its stability ahead of key electoral deadlines.

One faction, led by Nafiu Bala and backed by Leke Abejide, has openly rejected the outcome of the April 14 national convention organised by a group aligned with David Mark, describing the gathering as illegitimate and lacking legal standing.

The Bala's camp maintained that the convention and the decisions taken, including the alleged expulsions, hold no weight and are part of a failed attempt to sideline its leadership.

The faction is now pushing for a political resolution, while simultaneously pursuing legal redress, citing the timeline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission as a key factor requiring urgency.

With allegations and counter-allegations intensifying, attention is firmly on the courts as all factions await rulings that could determine the party’s leadership ahead of the submission of membership registers to INEC by the end of May.
