Former Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has admonished former President Goodluck Jonathan against accepting the call to contest for president in 2027.

The former Jigawa Governor noted that Jonathan, as a former President has a sovereign symbol and classified among global alumni of world leaders.
Lamido argued that "it is unfair and ill opportune to drag his person into the current murky political arena populated by unserious self seeking and self serving characters..."

Lamido, therefore, declared: "President Jonathan must not fall for this ego caress call!

"We can save him for the future."

Lamido, in a statement asserted:

THE CALL FOR PRESIDENT JONATHAN TO HOP INTO THE POLITICAL ARENA

Former President Jonathan understands his position in Nigeria as a Leader in his capacity as a Former President thus making him a sovereign symbol. He is also in the rank of a global alumni of world leaders. It is unfair and ill opportune to drag his person into the current murky political arena populated by unserious self seeking and self serving characters barely a week to the closing of nomination of candidates to run for various positions in the 2027 general election. This is more so with the fragmented political Parties we have, lacking in ideology beyond power grab!
The call for President Jonathan to hop into the political arena no matter how well intentioned stemmed from the helplessness and hopelessness Nigeria has found itself. For NOW, President Jonathan needs to maintain his dignified position as our sovereign ownership.
While the call is appreciated, it is a desperation call lacking in any depth beyond being a ventilator of frustration.
President Jonathan must not fall for this ego caress call! We can save him for the future.
