DSS Absence Stalls El-Rufai's Arraignment, Court Adjourns To April 23
The absence of the Department of State Services, DSS, stalled the arraignment of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State in court on Wednesday. The DSS failed to present the former Kaduna Governor in court to face charges of alleged cybercrime and national security breach.
At the Tuesday proceedings, the prosecutor, Oluwole Aladejoye, informed the presiding Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, that the defendant was still in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission, ICPC, where he is under investigation for alleged misappropriation of funds.
The prosecutor, therefore, requested for adjournment.
The Judge, accordingly, adjourned the matter to April 23 for the arraignment.
El-Rufai is facing three count charges for unlawfully intercepting (or admitting to intercepting with associates) the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu's phone communications — violating the Cybercrimes Act.
