Caretaker Committee Insists On Control Of PDP
The conflict in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may linger into the elections. This is more so as the faction, led by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, insists on control of the party structure taking advantage of the court judgment.
The PDP Caretaker Committee National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, has reaffirmed that the party’s leadership structure remains intact, with court rulings backing the authority of the Committee.
Mohammed, at a media interaction in Abuja, said the committee is the legally recognized body overseeing party affairs, stressing that all members must comply with existing judicial pronouncements.
He accused the faction led by Taminu Turaki of attempting to destabilize the party by seeking a court injunction to halt the planned National Convention, describing the move as a threat to party unity.
Mohammed reiterated the PDP’s commitment to unity, internal democracy, and the rule of law, warning against actions that could undermine its stability.
He, however, urged the judiciary to guard against abuse of court processes and protect legitimate political activities.
The PDP, he added, remains focused on proceeding with its programmes in line with its constitution.
