INEC Visits IGP Disu On 2027 Elections
The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, hosted a delegation of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led by Prof. Josiah Amupitan, INEC Chairman, on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The IGP assured of neutrality and professionalism in protecting the electoral space.
He affirmed police commitment to a free, fair, and credible electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
IGP Disu described the engagement as timely, noting that preparations are already underway.
He emphasized that credible elections depend on public trust, neutrality of security agencies, and responsible conduct by political actors, warning that any officer involved in partisan activities will face strict disciplinary action.
Chairman of INEC, Josiah Amupitan, commended the Police leadership and highlighted ongoing preparations for the 2027 elections.
He noted that collaboration between security agencies and electoral bodies remains critical to ensuring peaceful and credible polls.
Both institutions pledged stronger cooperation, joint training, and coordinated strategies to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.
