Delta Police Refutes Allegation Of Shooting Another Suspect
The Delta State Police Command has refuted the allegation that a surveillance patrol team at Orerokpe Division shot another suspect believed to have been caught with drugs.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Delta State Command, Edafe Bright, in a statement, indicated that the misleading video circulating on social media is false.
According to the Police, no live ammunition was discharged during the attempt to arrest a drug user. The PPRO, however, admitted that the officers deployed tear gas as a way of dispersing the crowd.
The smoke canister was said to have struck a civilian on the leg, resulting in an injury, as he was rushed to the hospital where he is presently receiving treatment.
The PPRO reiterated that it was not a case of gunshot
The Delta Police Commissioner, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, urged the public to disregard the false narrative being circulated and rely on verified information from the police channel.
