A severe rainstorm, on Monday evening, claimed two lives and destroyed over 50 houses in Dokan Mai-Jama’a, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The Village Head, Alhaji Hamisu Tukur, confirmed that over 50 houses were destroyed by the storm.

There was strong wind during the heavy rainfall which started at about 6:41 p.m. and lasted over 40 minutes.

NEMA acknowledged the displacement of many families by the storm.

The rainstorm extended to some areas in Sabon Gyero in Millennium City, Chikun LGA.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Kaduna State Office, have already swung into action in Dokan Mai-Jama’a for evaluation and necessary interventions.
