Wike Tasks PDP Leaders On Unity, Sacrifice Towards 2026 National Convention

Leader of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal capital Territory, FCT, has tasked party leaders on unity, loyalty, sacrifice in the buildup to the 2026 national convention.

Wike, speaking on the 2026 National Convention of the factional PDP, made a strong call for unity, inclusiveness, and a renewed commitment to rebuilding the PDP ahead of future elections.

Addressing delegates, the FCT Minister expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for their resilience, reiterating the need for loyalty, sacrifice, and collective effort in overcoming internal challenges.

He urged members to remain steadfast, close ranks, and focus on strengthening the party through unity and inclusiveness.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, also called for selflessness in leadership, stressing that justice, equity, and fairness must remain central to the party’s ideals.

He noted that rebuilding the PDP and repositioning it to recover national confidence requires the commitment of every member, not just the incoming leadership.

Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, highlighted the importance of reform and credible leadership, urging members to support the emergence of a new leadership structure that reflects the values of the party’s founding fathers.

He added that the PDP must present a united front capable of inspiring confidence among Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, Chairman of the 2026 Convention Planning Committee, Okezie Ikpeazu, described the convention as a defining moment for the party.

He said the gathering, themed “Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal,” marks a critical step in electing a new National Working Committee that will steer the affairs of the party over the next four years.

He commended members across the country and in the diaspora for their loyalty, noting that their resilience has sustained the PDP through challenging times.

Ikpeazu also acknowledged the role of key stakeholders, including party leaders and institutions, in stabilizing the party, while urging the incoming leadership to prioritize reconciliation, discipline, and trust-building within the ranks.

National Chairman of the faction, Mohammed Abdulrahman, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity, describing it as the foundation for a stronger and more cohesive political platform.

He commended party stakeholders for their sacrifices and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to preserve the party’s integrity and relevance.
