There is a seeming turning point in the political space as Vice President Kashim Shettima visited former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, to commiserate with him over the death of his mother, late Hajiya Fatima Umma.

The Vice President, who paid the El-Rufai family solidarity visit at their Abuja residence, called for collective effort in uniting the nation aside political differences.

The statement of the Vice President was germane within the context of the travails of El-Rufai in recent times unleashed by the APC-controlled federal government. Shettima signaled a turning point in partisanship.

VP Shettima prayed for the repose of the soul of the late matriarch of the El-Rufai family.

The late Hajiya Fatima Umma El-Rufai passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, at the age of 96.
