PDP Hits 4.2m Membership Registration
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, showed sign of recovery after mass defections from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the African Democratic Congress, ADC, by elected members, with the surpassing of 4.2 million members in its ongoing nationwide e-registration exercise.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, in a media interaction in Abuja, said the membership registration exercise is active across all wards, aimed at repositioning the PDP as a credible opposition.
Ememobong said that despite the tight timeline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the party deployed a digital platform and personnel to reach both rural and urban areas.
As of March 31, 2026, Ememobong said, 4,264,675 members had been registered, with Lagos and Ogun among the top-performing states.
The National Publicity Secretary criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling APC, for failure to tackle insecurity and key governance challenges.
The PDP also announced an extension of the registration deadline to April 30, 2026, stressing that the process is free and accessible via its official platform.
Ememobong warned against ideological dilution within the party, urging members to uphold its core values to avoid internal divisions.
