The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has promised to strengthen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, to improve justice delivery and security.

Disu, receiving an NBA delegation, led by the President, Afam Osigwe, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, assured lawyers that concerns over stringent bail conditions would be addressed and urged legal practitioners to stop criminalizing civil disputes.

The IGP also defended the enforcement of regulations on tinted vehicles and number plates, saying the measures are necessary to tackle crime and protect lives.

Osigwe commended the police for recent security efforts, but raised concerns about detention practices, bail conditions and the need for improved police funding and welfare.
