El-Rufai Returns To Court For Bail Application March 31
Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State will return to the Federal High Court, sitting in Kaduna, for hearing of his bail application.
The presiding Judge of the Federal High Court, Kaduna, Justice Rilwanu Aikawa, on the arraignment of El-Rufai by the ICPC on Tuesday, adjourned the bail application hearing to March 31, 2026.
Counsel to El-Rufai , Ukpon Akpan, had requested the court to grant his client bail, citing his constitutional rights and the need for adequate time to prepare for his defense. The judge, however, decided otherwise.
El-Rufai, a leader in the Opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on charges of alleged corruption and abuse of power.
The former governor's son, Bello El-Rufai, member, representing Kaduna North Federal Constitution in the House of Representatives, was in court in solidarity with his father.
