Clergies Lament Insecurity, Economic Hardship In Nigeria

A group of clergies, under the aegis of Cross Campaign, has lamented the rate of insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria. They called on the government to be decisive about the fight against terrorism and work against the wanton killings of innocent people, especially, in the northern part of the country.

At a media parley, the Cross Campaign decried that Nigerians are going through hard knock life, saying that it is time for Nigerians to feel the true meaning of democracy, which is supposed to be government of the people by the people and for the people.

They said that the government needs to declare state of emergency both on security and the economy. They noted that as people are being killed on daily basis by terrorists, so is hunger snuffing out lives of Nigerians in multitude on a daily basis.

The Cross Campaign also deliberated on the coming election with a unanimous agreement that there is need for paradigm shift in the way election is being conducted in the country.

The group challenged INEC to be an unbiased umpire and allow the votes of the people to count. They said that is the only way for the country to get credible leader that will be selfless and strife for the goodness of the land and its citizens.
