Alimosho LG Chairman Assures Police Of Support

The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, receiving Area ‘M’ Commander of the Nigerian Police, Mrs. Tokunbo Abaniwonda, alongside Divisional Police Officers, DPOs,  within the command, assured the police of support to enhance their operations.

The Area Commander commended the Executive Chairman for his consistent support to the police and appealed for further assistance to enhance their operational capacity.

According to Abaniwonda, “We are here like Oliver Twist. You have been assisting the police, and we are here today to seek more support, particularly, for our Shasha and Gowon stations, as well as our three tactical units.

"Sir, we need operational vehicles to ease our job. Mobility is essential for effective response to emergency situations.”

Media Office of the Executive Chairman, Alimosho Local Government, in a statement indicated that the Area Commander further highlighted key security challenges confronting the command, noting that cultism and other social vices remain a concern.

She added: “Without adequate mobility, it is increasingly difficult to carry out our operations effectively. Mr. Chairman, we believe in your support. Security is a critical issue that requires collaborative efforts.”

The chairman, Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, appreciated the delegation for their visit and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Alimosho.

“Protecting our people and sustaining peace in our communities is a responsibility we must all take seriously. Your request is duly noted and will be addressed within a short period. We campaigned on the promise of safeguarding lives and property, and that remains a top priority—consider it done,” he assured.

The Chairman also charged the police to intensify efforts in combating drug abuse within the communities. He disclosed plans to advocate for stronger legislative measures aimed at curbing the menace.

“I urge you to focus on tackling drug abuse decisively. I will engage relevant authorities at the local, state, and federal levels to explore legislation that will allow properties used for the sale of hard drugs to be seized or demolished. This is a serious issue, and you can count on my administration’s continued support,” he stated.
