The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has encouraged Nigerians to actively engage their elected representatives and demand accountability. He said that democracy can only thrive through meaningful citizen participation in the legislative process.

Akpabio, addressing lawmakers following a brief adjournment that enabled committees to undertake legislative assignments, described the Senate as a “workshop of solutions” rather than merely a platform for political debates.

He urged citizens to channel their concerns through democratic institutions by engaging lawmakers directly.

Akpabio acknowledged the growing influence of social media in shaping national conversations, but maintained that legislative procedures remain essential for converting public sentiment into enforceable policy decisions.
