Niger Delta Peace Project Records Decline in Violence

A community-driven peacebuilding initiative in the Niger Delta is being credited with reduction in violence and criminality across several communities in the region.

The project, implemented over a 30-month period, is now attracting commendation from stakeholders, who are calling for its expansion.

After two and a half years of intervention, Search for Common Ground, in collaboration with Stakeholder Democracy Network and the Partnership Initiative for the Niger Delta, is wrapping up its project aimed at transforming violence and criminality in the region.

The Acting country director, Search for Common Ground GIFT OMONIWA said The project focused on building local conflict resolution systems, promoting dialogue, and strengthening existing peace structures at community, local government, and state levels.
